Life in the Talent Acquisition team is just like a roller coaster. At the frontlines of almost everything we do at Smartly.io is our recruiting team. From finding awesome talent to promoting our unique culture, they’re an essential part of our growth in all the right ways.
I came to Smartly.io in a special occasion: relocating from Hanoi to Helsinki during the pandemic time when most Vietnameses in overseas are searching for expensive rescure flights to return to their home country.

💐 If you could be any fictional character, who would you choose?
I love Doraemon always. As I grew up, I always ask myself why I still really like to watch and read Doraemon. He is cute, friendly and has a lot of magical tools. I bet that every child wants to have such powerful gadgets as Doraemon.
💐 What’s something a lot of people don’t know about you?
Work-related:
- Linkedin connection request: please remember to respond to my connection request within 14 days. As a routine, I do either work review after every sprint or connection requests. The reason is that having too many unresponsive connection requests may result in limiting me from connecting with new people so that’s the reason why I audit and withdraw unresponsive ones every 14 days. However, it never means that I won’t send connection request to you anymore
- I ‘m not fussy when meeting are booked ( if you see slots in my calendar, just book it) but prefer that they aren’t after 16.00 (except for screening calls with candidates). The reason is that I normally start working from 6.30a.m 7a.m in the early morning so my brain is no longer in the highly focused mode for late meetings
- I like meetings with clear agenda (shorter is better!). I also like finish meetings on time (or early where possible). I am comfortable with any communication approaches: email, Slack, Google Hangout, etc.
- I treat deadlines as is. My preferable metrics are: 24 hours, 36 hours, 7 days, 14 days
- I’m most motivated to do my best work when I have an end goal in mind and the time to do the work properly. I like to be busy, but I want to achieve a steady flow where it’s possible to close work off with quality.
Life-related:
- If you can’t find me anywhere in Vietnam, remember to search me in Da Lat 😆
- Love animals with all of my heart! Our family in Vietnam has 3 dogs (one dog has three legs only who is my life motivation. His name is 3 chan or u map) and two cats.
- Our whole family also registered for organs donation after death. Eating preference: No meat, vegetables only. I love pagodas and their architectures, Bhutan is on my list for visting after the Covid-19
💐 What do you think is the best thing about the role you have now?
Everyone I get to work with, both on the people team and the engineering teams. I work with creative, highly empathetic, and inspiring co-workers. I feel so lucky to work with good human beings, most importantly.
I love connecting really good people with our team and making those connections come to life. The best part is seeing folks we’ve had long standing relationships with in the halls after they’ve accepted their offers. It’s rewarding getting to see them interact with their teammates and becoming a part of the Smartly.io family.

Determined, thoughtful, supportive and curious
